Environmental Specialty Products was founded in 1990, with the goal of building strong, dependable outdoor furniture products that would both help preserve the use of wood and eliminate the dependency on PVC plastics, which are proving to be an air quality nightmare.
Today, many people are beginning to recognize the value of plastic lumber as a durable and effective component of commercial and residential use.
Not only are these products gaining acceptance due to their performance, but they are becoming more popular for other important reasons. Resue of fossil fuels, landfill avoidance, and timber or ecosystem preservation all contribute to the value of plastic lumber.
By using recycled HDPE plastics, we not only provide a "green" product for our customers, but a product that has a 25 Year Warranty against fading, cracking or deterioration. Wood, other plastics and metals cannot equal the performance of HDPE plastics.

Plastic Lumber comes primarily from recycled milk jugs, detergent containers and various other High Density Polyethylene plastics- labeled #1 or #2. In 2005, plastic bottle recycling reached a record high of more than 2.1 billion pounds, and an overall plastic bottle recycling rate to 24.3% from the 21.3% set in 2000. While this is good news, there is a tremendous opportunity to recycle the 75% currently going to landfill annually.
Much like wood, Plastic Lumber is available in a variety of grades:
- Furniture Grade
Furniture Grade Plastic Lumber has minimal or no porosity, with a weight 25% greater that Cedar.
- Commercial Grade
Commercial Grade Plastic Lumber is used in decking and some park furniture.
- Structural Grade
Structural Grade Plastic Lumber has fiberglass as an added component for load-bearing applications such as posts, beams and joists for decking.
- Heavy Structural
Heavy Structural Plastic Lumber uses fiberglass rebar, for Marine piles and large free span joists.

None of our products contain PVC or BPA!
PVC, vinyl, or polyvinyl chloride is a plastic commonly used in consumer products including building supplies, cars, toys and other goods.
- The chlorine-dependant production of PVC results in the release of dioxins and other toxins into the environment that create health risks including cancer and damage to the immune and reproduction systems.
- Many types of PVC also contain phthalates, lead and cadmium, chemicals used to soften and stabilize the plastics. These are also known carcinogens.
- In addition to the health risks and toxins released by it manufacture, PVC cannot be easily recycled. It is considered to be a contaminant to many existing recycling programs due to the chemicals in its composition. It cannot be incinerated for the same reasons- burning it releases dioxins and other toxins into the environment.
BPA, or biphenyl-a, is a chemical used to make polycarbonate- a type of plastic.
It is commonly found in clear rigid containers including baby bottles and reusable water bottles. Recent research suggests that BPA is toxic to animals and may impact human hormones, which could cause behavioral changes in infants and children and trigger the early onset of puberty in females.

Leisure Furniture
At Environmental Specialty Products, we are dedicated to providing you with superior quality Leisure furniture that uniquely combines forward-thinking designs with durable construction and responsible materials.
Made with recycled HDPE plastics, which comes from used milk jugs and soap containers. With the addition of UV stabilizers and color, our furniture is guaranteed not to fade, crack or yellow and we guarantee it for 25 years! Unlike most other plastics, the material used to fabricate the furniture is considered color-fast. It will not fade more than 4% over a 10 year period; a color change that is generally not noticeable to the human eye. The color runs throughout each piece and has a UV-inhibitor incorporated into the material to minimize the chance discoloration.
Cleaning the furniture is normally a simple spray from a garden hose. You may use any non-abrasive cleaner, including bleach if you feel it's necessary to sanitize. High-pressure washing is recommended for white pieces. The material is non-porous and won't absorb spills that may stain.
Our complete line of Leisure products are perfect for any back-yard setting, but because of our proven designs, all the pieces are ideal for commercial application also, such as; Zoos, Hotels and Motels, Yacht clubs, Community Centers, Swimming centers, HOAs, Golf Courses, Retirement Communities, Shopping Malls, City Parks, Universities and Colleges.

Park Series
The Park Series is our heavy-duty commercial line of outdoor furniture with
Benches and Picnic Tables that utilize either powder coated aluminum or steel frames. In addition to the various lengths that all the furniture is available in, we also have custom design and steel fabrication for unusual applications of plastic lumber.
We have an extensive line of recycling and trash containers that utilize steel, aluminum and unique Roto-Molded inner frames protected by Plastic lumber slats.
Both the Sequoia and Half Dome containers, which have Roto-molded lids and bases, have the added benefits of molded-in graphics which have exceptional resistance to both graffiti and corrosive substances. That technology also allows us to minimize the vandalism and theft of valuable aluminum which is commonly used as lids and inner liners.
Environmental Specialty Products has always made stewardship of the environment a essential part of all that we do. By utilizing various metals and technology, we intricately blend their strengths with those of recycled plastics and produce products that meet our customer's expectation for high-design, high-quality products in a sustainability-sensitive planet.
